Presenting My Final Game Vlog

                                                                                         My Final Game Presentation

  • The Big Idea: Provide an update on your team's game topic. What is the most important concept you want your players to learn?  The most important concept I want my players to learn is pet safety because I feel it is important for kids to understand how some things found in their own home are very dangerous to their pets.

  • Making Decisions as a Team: How did your team's ideas about the game topic change over time?  I wanted to have 3 characters to choose from in my game, but I ended up only having one, the dog.

  • Roles & Responsibilities: Tell us more about your team process. Please each talk about your specific roles, and how you work together.  I have the role of doing everything in my group because I am the only member.

  • Research: What kind of research went into your game topic? What did you learn about your topic? What message do you want the player to understand?   I looked on the internet for exponent equation solving tips and common hazards for pets. I learned different ways to solve exponent equations and different things that can be harmful to pets such as apricots, etc. I want the player to understand that it is important to keep hazards away from your pet and that it is also important that you know how to solve exponential equations correctly.

  • The User Experience: Explain the actions players take in your game. How do you play it? What decisions were made about features to include, and how did you decide?   The player takes the action of eliminating the hazards out of the home and answering exponent equations correctly. You play my game by dragging the hazards to the pet so it can dispose of them, answering a variety of exponent equations, and then visiting the pet's local veteranarian so the player can learn more exponent equation solving skills/tips and why the hazards the player chose are proven hazards. I made decisions about animation features. I decided only to use them on the main menu because I didn't have time to complete any other animations.

  • Mastering Flash: What Flash resources have been most helpful in your learning so far, and why? How did you locate these resources?   I think that flash, itself has been most helpful in my learning so far because it has helped me to create my own game using different drawing tools and codes. Therefore, the mini-game was the most helpful flash resource because it contained most of the basic codes I needed later on in my game. I located this resource on my wiki.

  • Overcoming Challenges: What curriculum topic has been most difficult for you so far? How did you overcome this difficulty? What programming features are you most proud of in your game?   I think that pet safety has been the most difficult curriculum topic because it was hard to come up with hazards just concerning dogs. I overcame this difficulty by doing more research and asking other classmates about their opinion. I am most proud of my "vet" scene because I love how when you click on the "vet," the scene that comes up looks like notebook paper!
  • During the Summer........

School is almost out!!!! We only have 2 more days left (not including today) because school ends June, 8th. I'm so excited, but I'm also kind of sad because I won't get to see my friends for 3 whole months!!!! (Maybe I'll see them at the fair or something???)

During the summertime, I'm going to be on a traveling softball team! I'm so excited!

I'm also going to church camp. I will be going white water rafting, horse back riding, and caving there!!!!!

There's so many things I will be doing during the summer!!!! What about you????

    MY FINAL GAME!!!!

I turned-in my game last Tuesday! I am very proud of it! I have made a complete game!

    Description of My Game:
Pet Safety 9-1-1 is about teaching children my age about things that can be hazardous to their own pet. They will also learn a few exponential equation problem solving skills by solving them on their own. The player learns all of this by going to Spot's, the dog character, house and dragging things that can be hazardous to Spot to him so he can dispose of them. The player also will answer a multiple amount of exponent equations. After the equations are answered correctly, the player may visit Spot's local veteranarian and she can tell the player why the hazards they chose are actually hazardous to Spot. After the game has ended, the player has the choice to play the game again.

    Westest

Our Annual Westest starts next Monday. It ends on Thursday. We will only get to be in Globaloria class for 2 hours next week. That means I lose 1 hour because of Westest. We have to upload our games by Monday during lunch. I am very proud of the progress of my game. It is pretty much completed except for a little blinking problem on one of the scenes, but I know I can accomplish this task!!! :)

MY GAME IS DUE NEXT FRIDAY!!!

My final game is due next Friday, May 13, 2011. I am so nervous because I still have a lot to work on. I can get it done though if I take some more time from my lunch. I am also very excited because I am going to create a game teenagers can enjoy that also teaches them valuable skills. I hope I win the STEMS Competition. It is very hard to decide who will win though because there are so many good games this year! Good Luck, Everybody! J

    Globaloria Wiki Presentations

Yesterday, I presented my wiki to the Globaloria people in New York. I was very nervous! I showed them my Wiki Home Page, my Learning Log, my Projects Page, my Team Page, my Game Demo/Game Pitch .swf file, and a .swf file of my game so far. The New York people said that they thought my game was too long and that I should combine my ideas into one. I think that if I can think of a easy way for me to do this, my game can become much better! :)

    Globaloria Class

I have been working really hard on different scenes of my game in flash! I have learned so much since the beginning of Globaloria! I remember when I was confused when we were first making Action Script but now I am connecting completed scenes of my own math game like it's nothing!!!!!! Globaloria class is so fun! I think I learn new things everyday! I'm so excited, but it's amazing how fast this year has gone by....! :)

Summary of My Game with a Voki

This voki is like one of the characters in my game. My game also includes a dog and a rabbit as characters too! My game is about the player protecting his/her choice of character by eliminating hazards out of the household. Then, you must answer a multiple variety of exponential math equations. Each time you get one right, you will get money added to your pocket and once you reach a certain amount, you can spend it to go visit the veteranarian. When you visit the vet, the vet will tell you why the hazards you eliminated are hazards and other helpful tips. Then, the game is over. Thank you!

I just made a new Voki. See it here:

This is a voki. I used it to give the main idea of my game. You can create one of your own at Voki.com !!! When you have gone to the website, click on create and start making a weird voki of your own! :) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE TEACHER PERMISSON/APPROVAL FIRST! Thank you!

    BeeMP3.com

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GLOBALORIA TEACHER APPROVAL/PERMISSION BEFORE YOU ADD A SONG TO YOUR WIKI !!!!!!!!!!!!

If you ever want to download music to your wiki, you can go to BeeMP3.com !!! They have many different varieties of music. If you want to add music to your wiki with teacher permission, first, search for the song that you want on your wiki and when you find it, click the title of the song. A new page will come up. Then, enter the given code in the box and click enter on your keyboard. The song will pop-up with a play button. Listen to the song first, to make sure it's the right one. If it isn't, keep looking. If it is, copy the embedding code underneath the play button. Then, go to your wiki page and click edit. Go to where you want the song to be on the edit page and paste the code. Make sure you put the code, <viddler> , in front and the code, </viddler> , in the back of the code in order to make it appear. Click preview and make sure it shows up. If it doesn't, the code is wrong. If it does, you have just inserted a song to your Globaloria wiki! Congratulations!!!! :)

    My Wiki !!!!!!!! :)

I love having a wiki for Globaloria! It helps out so much! You can use it to do many things such as showing pictures, .swf files, links, videos, and more! There are also other ways to make a team page to store all of your information on your game, a learning log to state what you did each day in class, and a projects page where you save your progress of assigned projects. The wiki is very helpful in Globaloria class!

On my main wiki page, I have a variety of videos, softball/funny/baby animal pictures, .swf files of progress in my game so far, my game demo/pitch, action script .swf file, scene1 .swf file, mini game .swf file, BeeMP3 music, and two different links!!!!

IF YOU KNOW OF ANY OTHER GLOBALORIA RELATED THINGS I CAN ADD, PLEASE TELL ME.....Thank you! :)

Preparing for My Game Demo Interview :)

Next week, I am going to be interviewed and examined by Globaloria workers from New York. When I am viewed, I will present my Game Demo. I am very excited because I want them to see my progress in my game and to give me important tips I could use to improve my game. This will also make me nervous because I'm not sure what opinion they will have about my progressing, new game. I hope I do well!

My Globaloria teacher told my class that we have to dress-up for this special event. We are to wear things like skirts, dress pants, ties, dressy shirts, etc. :)

    Assembling Your Demo

I think I have learned more about my game topic in the process of making my demo because it allowed me to relate my questions to my game because on each scene that I made, I put something from my game on there. I think I have learned more about my topic because this project allowed me to really think about what my game is really about.
I would suggest for journalists, website content-writers, Wikipedia authors or other "knowledge producers to update their information because most sites I looked at had articles or facts that are not up-to-date and can sometimes cause you to have false information. I think this would help my learning-process because it will give me new information to consider while making my game.
I think I have taken the process of learning into my own hands when I need a new flash code that I can't find. When I can't find the flash code that I need, I usually try to combine codes into one or many other options and experiment on them to see if they work or not. If they don't work, I try another way to make a code. If they would work, I would share it with my teacher and others incase they might need it to. I can improve my self-learning skills by learning more codes and what they do so I could try to make more combinations.

    Game Demo & Pitch

Today, I finished creating my demo file for my game. It took me about two weeks but I finally got it done! :) I made it by using the Game Demo & Pitch questions and my answers from my team page. I also made an example of my Gameplay. I put next and back buttons in my scenes that I made work with codes in flash.
We had to create a Demo file because we are going to present it to the Globaloria people in New York. On the day we have to present it, we have to dress-up. I'm so nervous!

    Creating Thank-You Cards

Today, in Globaloria class, we created thank-you cards for the donors who donated money to our pen tablet fund. In order to get new pen tablets for our class, we made an online fund where people could go to and donate money. After a couple weeks, we reached our goal and have two brand new pen tablets for our class now!

Thank-you to all of the donors!!!!!

    Adding Input II: Mouse

This is my Adding Input II: Mouse .swf file that I created.

This is a .swf file created by the team "Animal lovers." I think this file represents "Adding Input II: Mouse" because you have to drag the medicine to the dog and then it responds by going to another scene.

    Researcher Project

On Monday and Tuesday of this week, my class had two globaloria researchers come to our school and give each of us individual interviews. The interviews were to see what we were doing in class and what we know about Globaloria. Both of them also came to our Globaloria class on Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday, we were assigned a project by the two researchers. The project was based on a story of a population of lynx and hares. Our assignment was to create a mini-game that represented the story with a small group of people from our class.

    Adding Sound

I plan to use sound in my buttons when you click them in my game. I also hope to use a wind blowing sound for my windows in my hazardous house scenes. I think sound will enhance the game play and learning experience of my game because it will make my game more exciting and can let the player get a more mental description of my game and what it's about.

    Adding Input I: Keyboard

This is my Adding Input I: Keyboard flash file that I created.

So far, the other students and myself in my globaloria class have come a long way in flash. We started out from just painting objects to adding new codes, layers, and scenes. I like working in flash because I feel that I can express myself in my art that I create for my game. I also like working with flash because I think it is fun to animate my drawings and add sounds. Everytime I design more scenes, I feel like making a game isn't that hard. I couldn't do all of this stuff without my globaloria teacher though because she helps me when codes I put in don't work or with anything else that I have trouble in in globaloria class.

    Adding Animation

This is the file I created for Adding Animation.

This is the video I chose that relates to my game topic (pet safety and exponents). I like the fact that this video tells you information about pet diabetes. I like these details about this video because my game is about pet safety and I feel that pet diabetes is a small part of pet safety.

    Adding Buttons

I could not find any useful resources from my peers' that pertained to my topics- pet safety and exponents. But, I did find one useful resource on the internet from "The Humane Society of the United States." The address is: http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tips/common_household_dangers_pets.html . The article was titled "Common Household Dangers for Pets." It is mainly about  inside and outside hazards that can be harmful to our pets like cats, dogs, etc. It also talks about hazards that can be found in a kitchen! I think this website will be a good resource to anyone who's game is related to pet safety because it has very good, specific details in the text and this internet page was from "The Humane Society of the United States" which is very knowledgable about pets.
